Research Interests

Catherine is a masters student in the School of Communication. Her research interests centre around the security, surveillance, and privacy implications of new digital technologies. Taking a constructivist view of technology and policy formation, she is particularly interested in the use of framing to promote a specific conceptualization of these issues, and the effect that the media can have on public acceptance of security moves involving ICTs in the U.S. and Canada. She received her BA in American and Canadian Studies from the University of Birmingham.
