Neal Thomas

Sessional Instructor

Communication Studies

Wilfred Laurier University

I am a recently defended Ph.D Candidate in the Art History and Communication Studies department at McGill University. My research generally focuses on philosophy germane to social computing, and the representation of information. With case studies that include collaborative filtering and structured data, my work adopts a post-metaphysical vocabulary to stage a critique of social information systems. I have an MFA in Communication Design from NSCAD University, and have previously taught new media design and theory at both the University of Lethbridge and the Alberta College of Art and Design in Alberta, Canada. Working at SFU’s ACT-LAB while residing in Vancouver from 2009-2011, I relocated to Toronto in fall 2011.
